My 7 Go-To Prompts for Bridal Parties

Wedding season is in full swing with me having a wedding or 2 almost every weekend! This week I thought I’d share some of my favorite prompts that I use on a bridal party.

    1. THE CLASSIC

This is a classic + the one I always start with! I’ll start by having the couple in the middle with each party on their side of however they stood during the ceremony (everyone angled in nice + close). And then I’ll have everyone smile at me on the count of three!

    3. EVERY OTHER

I usually do this pose second because it’s more traditional too. I’ll start this pose with the couple in the middle + then have an even amount of the bridal party on each side of them rotating every other (guy’s side, girl’s side, etc.). And then I’ll have everyone smile at me on the count of three!

    3. EVERY OTHER WITH A TWIST

This one is the same as the “Every Other” prose except I add a little twist! I’ll start this pose with the couple in the middle + then have an even amount of the bridal party on each side of them rotating every other (guy’s side, girl’s side, etc.) with everyone in a straight line. Then I’ll tell the girls to hold their bouquets up in front of their faces + the guys to put their hands in their pockets + smile. If the guys have drinks / flasks or cigars you could have them use those during this pose as well.

    4. GROUP HUG

The group hug is always such a fun + different pose for a bridal party! I usually make them do this pose last after I’ve shot all the more traditional + serious ones where they are all lined up first smiling at the camera. I’ll have the couple kiss in the middle + then tell the bridal party to get in close + group hug them without knocking them over.

    5. CHEERS!

I’ll start this pose with the couple in the middle + then have an even amount of the bridal party on each side of them rotating every other (guy’s side, girl’s side, etc.). On the count of three I’ll have the couple kiss (sometimes with a dip) + have every cheer them on (guys with hands, girl’s with bouquets).

    6. SMILE + WALK, BOYS, SMILE + WALK

This one is kind of like the Drunk Walk pose I do with my couples! I’ll start by having the couple in the middle with each party on their side of however they stood during the ceremony (everyone in a straight line). Then I’ll tell them all to link arms with each other + on the count of three slowly walk towards me while smiling + laughing at each other.

    7. THE TUNNEL

This one is just the best! I’ll start by having the bridal party line up facing each other about an arms length apart guys on one side girls on the other. I’ll then tell them to reach their arms out so that they make a tunnel. I’ll have the bride + groom go on one end, hold hands + run through the tunnel! I’ll usually have them do it 2 – 3 times so I get some different reactions.

    Bonus Tip…

Make sure you talk really loud + get up close to them when you are giving them prompts so they can all hear you! When the bridal party is especially rowdy + goofy just make it clear to them that the quicker they listen the quicker the photos will be done + they can go enjoy themselves.
