3 Tips for Planning Your Engagement Shoot

Newly engaged + need help planning your engagement shoot? I got you! Try to pick a date that your photographer has available in a season that is different than when your wedding will be. An example of this could be – fall wedding with winter engagement shoot or spring wedding with a fall engagement shoot, etc. That being said, make sure you have enough time to send out your save the dates if you are wanting to use the photos on them. These are typically sent out 3 – 6 months in advance + Photographers typically take a few weeks to deliver a final gallery.
Choose a location that has some meaning to you both as a couple! It could be exploring the city you first met in, doing a hike you’ve been wanting to check off your bucket list together, enjoying beers at your favorite brewery, etc. The possibilities are endless!
Plan your outfits out ahead of time! Don’t wait until the night before your shoot because it’ll probably stress you out. Look up inspiration on Pinterest or ask your photographer if they have any tips (I always send my What to Wear guide to my clients as soon as they book their engagement shoot with me). I’d recommend bringing at least 2 outfits each (one a little dressier, one more causal) so that you get some variety in your photos!
